What is true Monoi oil?
I ask this question because, for a while all products are monoi, or they have Momoi oil.
But when you read the label, most of components have nothing to do with the oil. which real origins is from French Polynesia.
What the genuine Monoi oil is made of?
This oil is made by macerating the tiare flower (Gardenia tahitensis) and refined coconut oil fronPolynesia. Both comonentes as you can see are natural. They are not any animal or chemical ingredient in the product. So any product which claimed to be monoi oil or made of , must have the two main ingredients mentioned.
What are their properties?
Hair
Pre-poo : Apply a drop of Monoi throughout the mane, or just from the middle to the ends, and leave the desired time (minimum 20 minutes advised). Then rinsed and washed my hair with shampoo as usual.
Mask: Mix a few drops with the usual deep treatment. Use as you have the habit. Rinse after finishing the trip time.
Protector: Protect the sea salt and chlorine from the pool. massage
Skin
Moisturizer: Apply a few drops of the body, while massaging. Hydrates, nourishes, softens dry, scaly areas and adds shine. Ideal for improving very dark skin and folds have whitish flaking due to dryness or chafing. Its moisturizing effect remains up to 6-8 hours.
Massage: Ideal with a relaxing massage, and for its aroma becomes excellent aromatherapy session.
Bath / Shower: Adding a few drops in the bath or after shower, wet skin, leaves skin hydrated with a velvety texture and a subtle perfume.
Aftersun: Soothes the skin after sun exposure. Highlight tanning.
Bronzer: Intensifies and accelerates tanning, although it should be noted that one must exercise caution because no sunscreen. Making it more suitable for skin tones, sun-resistant, which they want to highlight with a touch more intense.
I personally use it when my skin is already quite dark and always combined with another product that offers sun protection.
Very important
Not all products available in the market and denominated «Monoi» meet these conditions.
In the global market there are countless brands that sell, but whatever the brand of choice, it is important to ensure that in its formulation includes at least 50% of Monoi de Tahiti, with designation of origin «AOC» (awarded on April 1, 1992) which guarantees authenticity (the container or box can be printed with a distinctive, like the image, but not required).
As personal advice to keep in mind, when purchasing a Monoi oil, I recommend reviewing the ingredients, not only to ensure that the product you are buying is not an imitation, but also to check the other ingredients «filler» (the other 50%) are as natural as possible. Some brands added mineral oil (paraffin) and other synthetic ingredients. This is according to the tastes of each person, I personally prefer that contains plant extracts and other natural oils base, inits composition
